The mission of the Women of CGI network is to support the overall success of women across CGI.
Through collaboration with local networks, external partnerships, and diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) advocates, the group organizes numerous events and programs.
Every year, International Women’s Day is an opportunity for organizations across industries, including technology, to address how bias affects women. In fact, the theme of this year’s IWD is #BreaktheBias.
While technology is an innovative and forward-thinking industry, women remain underrepresented in this field, despite progress over the years.
Diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) goals are not one-size-fits-all.
Beyond our targets that help us quantify our diversity representation, including gender diversity, we are committed to ensuring a workplace that is inclusive, equitable, and fair.
We partner with The Ambition Challenge, a program that helps women fulfill their potential and advance their careers through innovative training programs. We offer training programs developed by The Ambition Challenge in both Canada and France, with the goals of nurturing leadership potential, expanding professional networks, and developing the careers of women in manager roles and above.
Every year in the U.S., we organize a mobile app challenge for high school girls in partnership with schools and community organizations to inspire them to pursue a career in IT. Teams of 2-4 students partner with CGI mentors to develop a smartphone app using a mobile app-building platform. Each team then presents their mobile app to a panel of judges, with the winning team sharing a $20,000 college scholarship.
CGI teams with TD Bank to offer the Dalhousie University Women in Technology Scholarship, which provides tuition support and career mentoring to female students studying IT at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada. With various estimates showing that only a quarter of technology careers are held by women worldwide, the scholarship aims to encourage more women to pursue careers in IT and set them up to be future leaders in the industry.
