Centralized debt management for government (Collections360®)

Maximizing revenue while minimizing cost and risk

The mission of most agencies is to provide services, not collect debt. Yet, many do have collection responsibilities – for court and traffic fines, permit fees, child support payments, unemployment insurance, benefit overpayments, penalties, tuition and more. Without a debt-collection focus and a critical mass of debts, most agencies are collecting significantly less than they could. As a result, states and municipalities are losing tens, if not hundreds, of millions of dollars each year.

Based on CGI's experience, and our study with NASACT, decentralized collection operations tend to receive less focus, are funded at sub-optimal levels, and have limited ability to pursue major improvements. Centralizing debt collection from multiple agencies and debt types produces significant economies of scale to support investments in powerful tools for automating processes, creating comprehensive debtor profiles, and delivering new strategies for increased collections.
