Contributing to the vitality of the communities where I live and work has always been a passion for me, both as a grassroots volunteer and as part of pro bono projects to advance education, diversity, equity and inclusion, the arts and the environment.

More than ever, environmental, social and governance (ESG) matters are top of mind for CGI, our clients and for our professionals, who we call members*. As our corporate social responsibility strategic goal is to remain an invested, responsible corporate citizen within our communities, we seek to help ensure that everyone can benefit from the positive impacts of technology. We also seek to empower our members to actively engage in our communities, creating real and enduring social, economic and environmental change.

As part of our commitment, we’ve pledged that 100% of our business units will implement pro bono community projects by 2026. To help realize this goal and to further support volunteering as a core company value, we’re excited to launch a new digital volunteering tool called CGI for Good.

Empowering our members with an easy-to-use tool

In 2021, some 12,000 CGI members engaged in pro bono and volunteer activities, donating 48,220 hours and benefitting nearly 1 million people. Our members continually step up to help our communities in many ways. Here are just a few examples in each of our priorities:

Our new CGI for Good tool is designed to empower our members to easily respond to the unique needs of each community. When fully implemented, all 84,000 CGI members will access a single tool to discover local volunteer opportunities and recommend projects of their own. Activities may be remote or in-person, and organized by non-profits or led by CGI members themselves. Once they register, a personal dashboard provides members with status updates and progress reports.

Members can search the tool by keyword, location, initiative, date, time and their business and IT skill requirements. The tool also helps teams manage pro bono projects, including those done in collaboration with clients and our strategic alliance partners. Project tracking data helps us more accurately report our progress toward community-impact goals and provides added transparency for stakeholders, including indices that audit and rate our performance against ESG criteria.

I look forward to deploying the CGI for Good tool in all of our business units around the world, so that every CGI member can maximize their impact on our communities and help build a more inclusive and sustainable world.

*We call our professionals members as a majority of them are also owners of CGI.
