Network Function Virtualisation (NFV) aims to simplify telecoms networks, and give the same flexibility and agility that cloud computing has given to the IT industry. Software Defined Networks (SDN) are inherently programmable, separating the control part from the media part. Together, they enable an enterprise to deliver services to customers more flexibly. SDN is often used alongside Cloud Computing, with an overall orchestration layer which can control both the network connectivity and compute / storage environment to provide rapid deployment capability.
The technology and standards around NFV and SDN are mature, but deployment remains complex. There are a large number of technology providers in the market place and CGI works with them to provide integration solutions that help communication service providers get to market faster.
Wherever on the road to NFV and SDN, we’re here to help. CGI is able to draw on extensive experience in cloud solutions and decades of working with communication service providers, to develop the right overall solution, including the OSS and BSS changes that you will need to be able to launch services.
