CGI’s payments expert, Jerry Norton - Head of Financial Services Strategy has been featured in the Daily Telegraph’s ‘Future of Payments Business Technology’ supplement.
The article examines the introduction of the PSR (Payments System Regulator), and discusses how the new Paym service is one of the many new products to stimulate the payments industry today.
Paym is the service name for the Mobile Payments Project from the UK Payments Council. The service is intended to provide a person-to-person (P2P) mobile payments service based on current accounts. This P2P service allows banks to register their customers in a database which links their mobile number and their account number in order to make or receive payments. Unlike other services/initiatives, this service is not restricted to a single bank’s brands, it is available to anyone with a current account whose bank has signed up for the service.
“CGI successfully managed the design phase of the Mobile Payments Service at the UK’s Payments Council. From idea creation, through to scheme launch, we worked closely together with Payments Council staff, member banks and payment service providers”.
