Data Architect

Position Description

CGI is looking to hire Data Architect for its project in banking domain.

Your future duties and responsibilities

• Understand, define and structure how data relates to business operations and capabilities through data modeling.
• Work with project teams & clients to help define business requirements and functional specifications as a guide to data modeling Determine appropriate data modeling approaches by assessing the suitability of data modeling strategies and techniques.
• Reconcile multiple data sources and data models into a single, logically consistent model.
• Rationalize the relationships expressed in the logical data model to the schema of the physical data store Lead, plan and build quality Conceptual, Logical, Physical and Semantic Data models for Operational Data Stores, Data Warehouses and Data Marts using tools like ERwin or ER Studio (Idera).
• Map data sources to data models including required transformation logic, e.g. business rules, data cleansing rules, etc…
• Describe data structures, characteristics, behavior, and other aspects of data modeling principles to project stakeholders.
• Develop data modeling standards including version control, best practices & guidelines and ensure data models comply.
• Configure Data Modeling Repository platform like ERwin or ER Studio (Idera) for model versioning and compliance with defined standards Experience, Skills & Abilities.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role

• 5+ years of experience as a Data Modeler with high proficiency in
• 5+ requirement gathering and data modeling including design of
• 5+ Operational Data Stores, Data Warehouses and Data Marts
• 1+ years data modeling in the Retail Industry
• Expertise in Normalization/Denormalization techniques for optimum performance in relational and dimensional database environments Expertise in dimensional modeling; Star schemas, Snowflake schema, Fact tables, Slowly Changing Dimensions, and Surrogate keys.
• Expertise modeling Conceptual, Logical, Physical and Semantic data models Experience designing and implementing Bi-Temporal Data Modeling Excellent SQL Query skills using ANSII standard SQL.
• Expertise in Data Analysis ensuring data sources support data model design Expertise mapping sources systems to data models for data integration design & implementation.
• Expertise defining Data Modeling standards and best practices.
• Expertise in Model Management using tools like ERwin Workgroup Edition or ER Studio (Idera) Professional Edition.
• Clear understanding of Retail Industry business concepts like Supply Chain Management.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
• Excellent facilitation and presentation skills.
• Solid understanding of Metadata management and data quality concepts.
• Solid understanding of Master Data and Reference Data management concepts.
• Solid understanding of RDBMS physical implementations including indexing, partitioning, tables, materialized views, etc.
