This is an exciting opportunity to join CGI's team in Victoria BC to provide leading IT services to our local clients. We are seeking a skilled and innovative professional with a minimum of 3 years of experience as a Database Administrator.

Your future duties and responsibilities

Perform database Administration (backup and recovery, DBMS upgrades, configuration, security)
Monitor database performance and address issues as needed;
Possess a comprehensive understanding of the data stored in data objects and perform data management tasks as required;
Possess a comprehensive understand of the solution database architecture, data objects, table structures and data model;
Provide support as the primary database architect of all client databases;
Act as Tier-three point of escalation for all database related issues;
Take ownership of problems tickets and work with development team to reproduce defects.
Work with middleware team to troubleshoot middleware technology issues.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role

At least 5 years of experience working with Oracle Databases
At least 5 years of experience working in DBMS procedural languages (TRANSACT, PL/SQL, etc.)
At least 5 years of experience in Unix operating system functionality (Solaris/LINUX)
Post-secondary degree/certificate
Willingness to participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation
