Algan is an AI engineer and consultant at CGI, specializing in agentic AI and the practical application of artificial intelligence. He helps teams turn questions about AI into workable solutions, from identifying suitable use cases and designing the architecture to rapid prototyping and implementation. Within his unit, he leads AI projects and is a go-to expert for colleagues exploring how AI can improve existing processes and ways of working. His broader technical background includes software engineering, geo-information and computer vision.
Before joining CGI, Algan worked as a GIS and database specialist in the mining industry. At CGI, he has worked primarily in rail infrastructure, progressing from software engineering into technical leadership, architecture and AI consultancy. His experience includes leading the migration of an end-of-life proprietary geospatial workflow to a fully open-source solution, as well as delivering his unit's first project built around an agentic AI pipeline. Alongside project delivery, he mentors engineers, develops proofs of concept and provides workshops and training on AI. He increasingly works across teams to identify bottlenecks and determine where AI or another technical approach can make their work more effective.
Algan approaches technology with curiosity and pragmatism. He enjoys unfamiliar problems and believes that the complexity of a solution should be determined by the problem rather than by the technology available. That hands-on mindset extends beyond his work: he enjoys building and fixing things himself, road trips and motorsports, and playing guitar.
