CGI in India – Corporate social responsibility

CSR: An integral part of who we are

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is one of CGI’s core values and is an integral part of our work culture in India. It influences how we conduct our business at all levels and is a commitment that we take very seriously.

The 2017 Corporate Social Responsibility Project

CGI (India) will help improve access to education and sports for the underprivileged children of the Gowdihalli Village Primary School in Karnataka. In addition to CGI providing financial support, our members will volunteer their talent and expertise to help raise the literacy rate, improve access to sports facilities and spread awareness among the parents about the importance of education.

This project will be implemented in three phases:

  • Phase one: Educational material, sports equipment, uniforms, bags, shoes and audio equipment will be provided to the school authorities.
  • Phase two: Desks, tables, chairs, library furniture, water filters, smart class - computers, power back-up and Internet facility will be provided for the children. In addition, a sports and cultural event will be planned towards the end of phase two that will involve the village community.
  • Phase three: Building of a school hall, restrooms and compound wall for the school.

Our members are also involved in a number of philanthropic activities through the year – from quarterly blood drives, to teaching IT in local schools and raising funds to support various causes benefiting the underprivileged. These activities are conducted by our internal social club called Sparsh (meaning ‘Touch’ in Hindi) which is the driving force behind all CSR and social events.
