Sjors is a blockchain expert for CGI in the Netherlands’ oil, gas, utilities and communications industry group. In this role, he consults with clients on using blockchain as part of their digital transformation. This includes working with CGI teams and partners to design and implement the most efficient systems to achieve transformation with blockchain. Sjors has a strong focus on the energy transition, where societies move towards more sustainable and decentralized energy systems, and where blockchain could become a crucial enabler for the integration of new energy technology. As a graduate intern at Delft University of Technology, he researched the possibility of using electric vehicles as a buffer in decentralized electricity grids (smart grids). Those systems could make optimal use of flexibility if supply and demand can be matched locally, and blockchain could provide a suitable platform.
