Since 2003, men across the globe have participated in Movember—a campaign to raise funds and awareness for men’s health issues—by forgoing the clean-shaven look and growing moustaches for the entire month of November.

Movember has raised $174 million to date to support charities focused on fighting prostate cancer and other diseases that affect men, such as the Prostate Cancer Foundation and LIVESTRONG, the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

In 2011, 133 CGI men, or “Mo Bros,” on 10 different teams across Canada banded together and raised $29,678 for the cause. Each team organized fundraising activities with the support of their “Mo Sistas”—female family members, friends and colleagues who pitched in to help raise funds.

“Although CGI members have participated in Movember in the past, this is the first year that members in Canada got involved in an organized, cross-country fashion,” said Milad Al-Jawabra, a CGI treasury analyst. “Joining together was truly a huge success.”

“Our goal is to make this a global CGI initiative in 2012,” said Kevin Maisonville, a CGI national events specialist. “We want to get our colleagues in the U.S., Europe and Asia-Pacific involved to raise even more money for this important cause.”
