CGI members in Germany gathered with their families and friends on a windy Sunday afternoon to get in motion for charity. The “CGI in Motion” event drew nearly a 100 people who skated, walked or biked to help raise funds for earthquake victims in Japan. Nearly €3,000 was raised through their efforts and donated to the Red Cross.

The event was followed up with a charity fundraising effort that gave members the opportunity to guess the scores of matches for the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup. An office rooftop barbecue fundraiser was also held a short time later.

These are just a few examples of the many activities CGI’s consultants in Germany organize each year. They also have raised thousands of dollars by holding flea markets, office barbecues and other creative fundraisers, as well as donating countless hours of their time to local charities.

A volunteer team of members also focus on making “green” improvements in each of our Germany offices.

The team’s slogan—Feel Responsible – Act Responsible—reflects its view that all CGI members have a responsibility to make a difference.

“It’s very satisfying to volunteer,” shared Frank Roscher, a senior consultant in the telecommunications practice. “When you see the smile of a disabled child to whom you gave an extra Christmas present, you get a lot of out of it. Volunteering can be a very motivating part of our work.”
