Since 2008, CGI’s Greater Toronto Area business unit has been partnering with client Foresters Life Insurance to build homes for the needy throughout the Toronto region in support of Habitat for Humanity.

Every year, teams from both companies take part in several builds, working together to make the dream of home ownership a reality for struggling families.

This year, CGI participated in five builds—three involving Foresters—in an area where the need for affordable housing is great. By the start of the 2012, a total of 29 homes in this area will be offered for sale at a reduced rate to less fortunate families.

"Working with Foresters to build homes for Habitat for Humanity has proven to be an invaluable experience," shared Rino Rondinone, vice president, consulting, who helped bring CGI and Forester together for the cause. "It’s been a very rewarding avenue for both companies to give back and serve as good corporate citizens.”

Foresters, a leading life insurance and annuities provider, has been a CGI client since 2004, and in 2009, we signed a 10-year full IT outsourcing contract with the company (press release). Partnering to support Habitat for Humanity has been a way not only to give back, but also to strengthen our relationship with this valued client—a means for building trust, solidarity and collaboration among our teams in addition to homes for the needy.

Founded in 1976, Habitat for Humanity has helped build more than 400,000 decent, affordable houses for more than 2 million people around the world. CGI is proud to be a part of its ongoing work.
