A diverse group of CGI members works in the Denver area to provide a broad spectrum of services, including software development, consulting, business development, finance and others. Although the group is relatively small in number with 110 members, it makes a large contribution when giving back to its local community, looking each year for local charities to support.

In 2011, for example, the team pulled together to raise funds for the Shiloh House, a local group home for abused and neglected boys. It was Christmas time, and although gifts for the boys had already been donated, CGI members learned that they were sleeping on worn out bedding. So, money was collected and complete new bedding sets for the boys were purchased.

In addition, David Clark, a CGI consultant in Denver, put his woodworking talents to good use and made a special toy truck and car for each boy. The Denver team also provided a gift card and cash donation to the Shiloh House to meet other holiday needs.

It was a great way to end a year that was full of giving. In May, the team purchased and cooked a Mexican fiesta for the residents of the Denver Ronald McDonald House, as well as provided laundry detergent, paper towels and other household items. In October, they hosted their annual Great American Bake Sale, raising hundreds for charity. In November, they sent 22 pounds of candy to Operation Gratitude to benefit U.S. troops serving overseas.

In addition, the team collected pull-tabs from aluminum cans throughout 2011 to raise money for local charities, sold cookbooks and raffle tickets to benefit Share Our Strength, a national charity focused on fighting hunger and national CSR partner for CGI’s U.S. operations, and partnered with Scouting for Food to collect food for local food banks.

“I know we’re not as large as other CGI offices, but we are mighty when it comes to serving our community,” said Denver Consultant Pam Hintz, who helps to organize office-wide CSR activities. “I am consistently blown away by the generosity of our members. Apart from our office-wide efforts, our members also serve in many other ways. And, many have received grant money from CGI to support their work. It’s an honor to work with these amazing individuals.”
