CGI (NYSE: GIB) (TSX: GIB.A) today announced the award of a contract by CPS Energy, the largest municipally-owned energy utility in the U.S., for the deployment of its Asset & Resource Management (ARM) suite. Under the two-year contract, CGI will deploy ARM to streamline, integrate and enhance CPS Energy’s customer engineering, scheduling and construction processes, along with its distribution and gas engineering processes to increase efficiencies, reduce staff requirements, work delays and rework, and improve customer service.

Located in San Antonio, Texas, the seventh-largest U.S. city, CPS Energy serves more than 786,000 electric customers and 339,000 natural gas customers, while keeping rates among the lowest of the nation’s 20 largest metropolitan areas. “We look forward to a partnership with CGI that will introduce new efficiencies and strengthen the services we provide our customers throughout the San Antonio region,” said James Trevino, Director, Construction Service Improvement (CSI) Program and Scheduling, CPS Energy. “As a critical infrastructure provider for a large metropolitan community, it is vital to engage an experienced partner with innovative digital technology that will help us to meet the demand for reliable and affordable gas and electric service.”

Through automation, business intelligence, geospatial and other digital technologies, ARM enables transmission and distribution (T&D) utilities to effectively manage enormously complex and dynamic asset, work, resource and field functions. With ARM, T&D utilities drive efficiencies across a wide range of business processes, including supply chain, customer care, billing, accounting and human resources, to improve performance and enhance the customer experience.
