CGI is currently looking for a Senior User Experience / User Interface (UX/UI) Designer to join our expanding team in Victoria, BC. Our Digital Transformation Practice is at the forefront in creating engaging user experiences that transform complex tasks into intuitive, accessible and easy to use products and services.

As part of our leadership team, we require a professional senior UX/UI Designer with experience leading, creating, prototyping, designing, building and deploying various solutions to clients in various industry sectors.

This is a client-facing role and we will look to you for your experience working with interdisciplinary teams, across a range of digital touch points, to solve complex user experience and interaction problems using human-centered design. You will have the opportunity to think strategically and execute tactically. You will present compelling recommendations, journey maps, and service blueprints. You will lead the development of prototypes and product strategy. Ideally, you will have had extensive experience developing design artifacts such as wireframes, interaction flows, and content strategy.

Your future duties and responsibilities

Being part of this exciting, client-focused team, you will be responsible for designing products, solutions, and websites in collaboration with developers, content writers, and designers. You will translate user requirements into simple, elegant digital solutions that put our clients first. Often you will work as part of an agile team, providing a range of activities to inform iterative development.

Being part of this exciting, client focused team, you will:

Conduct user research, interviews, and surveys and use the gathered information to create solutions
Share insights from research and communicate key feedback from users
Proactively learn about new areas and, through your communication, help others learn and engage with new ideas
Lead development and execution of research to inform development of solutions, products and services
Identify design problems and devise refined solutions
Create, organize, and execute user and stakeholder research, including contextual interviews, co-design sessions, usability testing, heuristic evaluations, and data analysis
Take a user-centered design approach and rapidly test and iterate your designs
Work closely with the agile product team by participating in business discovery, sprint planning, daily scrums, team co-design sessions and design reviews
Guide the team to a successful execution of clients’ vision
Prepare and deliver persuasive presentations of findings and recommendations for improvements to clients and stakeholders at all levels
Confidently present material and ideas to senior clients and stakeholders
Learn from feedback and refine your work to meet the clients’ needs

Required qualifications to be successful in this role

5+ years of related industry experience working as a UX Designer
Strong and capable leader who is organized and has effective time management skills
Strong conceptual and visual communication skills
Proficient in design and technology
Proficient in UX/UI design and documentation applications
Ability to work with clients to understand detailed requirements and design complete user experiences that meet client needs and vision
Ability to clearly and effectively communicate design processes, ideas, and solutions to all levels of the an organization
Demonstrate understanding of current and emerging technologies, industry trends and standards, and device capabilities
Ability to iterate designs and solutions efficiently and intelligently
Be passionate about UX areas of design and innovation
Research and showcase knowledge in the industry’s latest trends and technologies

Additional Skills:
Ability to build APIs in a RESTful style or the like an asset
Basic HTML and CSS coding skills an asset

Required Level of Education (including certifications):
University or College graduate in Interaction Design, Graphic Design, UX, or related discipline or proven work experience as a UX Designer or similar role
