CGI members help feed hundreds at Our Place rehabilitation centre

After a local philanthropist footed the bill, CGI members from both the Broughton St. and Douglas St. locations helped serve meals, pour coffee, clean tables, and bus plates for two hot breakfasts held at Our Place, a non-profit rehabilitation centre located in downtown Victoria. Our Place helps provide food, shelter, counseling, education, and a variety of other services and resources for those in need in Victoria and its surrounding areas. The turnout was extraordinary – over 400 mouths were fed.

Though an impressive display of cooperation and generosity, this was nothing new for CGI’s Victoria members. In late 2016, the same group sponsored and hosted similar events on two separate occasions, helping to serve over 700 breakfasts combined. On one occasion, several of CGI’s big-hearted volunteers even went a step further and raised a whopping $345 to help sponsor a future breakfast.

In addition, during our “Sock it to the VPs” event last year, countless pairs of new men’s socks were donated – though not before being used as projectiles in a friendly session of target practice! Soon after, the Douglas St. office’s foosball table was donated to Our Place’s Choices Transitional Home.

Our Place Society’s vision is to provide nourishment, hope, and belonging for all, in an environment of sharing and growing. CGI proudly supports this organization through a variety of fundraising and volunteer efforts. Our Place Society was voted as the BC Region’s most preferred organization to work with in 2017. Needless to say, CGI’s employees are eager to help those less fortunate - helping to foster a strong relationship with Our Place now and in the future.
