Position Description

CGI is seeking a Data Management Consultant. You will have an opportunity to work in multiple teams and in latest database technologies. Be a solution provider and an innovation author.

Your future duties and responsibilities

• Extensive experience in database design, analysis, modeling, development, administration, implementation, trouble shooting, release management and quality management
• Partner with various business and technology leaders on data related initiatives to support the data management needs of the enterprise
• Develops database solutions by designing proposed system; defining database physical structure and functional capabilities, security, back up, and recovery specifications.
• Development of data components, monitoring of the environment (through OEM and other tools), database capacity planning and overseeing performance testing and tuning of the data components (in Linux/Unix platform).
• Define and implement a roadmap to drive data quality and data management maturity by deploying enterprise-wide data quality services and methodologies
• Deeply involved in requirements definition, design, development, deployment, maintenance and enhancement of applications working as part of Application Development team, with specific focus on databases.
• Ensure alignment of solutions with enterprise architecture principles and guidelines for initiatives like transitions monolith to micro services architectures.
• Promote data modeling standardization, defines and drives adoption of the standards and data governance practices.
• Maintains database performance by identifying and resolving production and application development problems; calculating optimum values for parameters; evaluating, integrating, completing maintenance; answering user questions.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role

8+ years of experience in the data industry with 5+ years towards delivering Data Management initiatives with data design & performance optimization for large applications

• Proficiency in Oracle (DBA/Developer background) with knowledge in concepts like high availability (RAC), data replication technologies such as Oracle Data Guard, Oracle Enterprise Manager, Oracle Golden Gate. Good knowledge of indexes, partitions, TDE, tablespaces, compression techniques, constraints, query optimization etc.
• Strong experience in Oracle database Performance Tuning Techniques
• Experience with transition to new database technologies like Mongo dB, Redis, Cassandra, Big data and graph databases (Neo4J).
• Define data modeling standards, guidelines and best practices.
• Proven track record of successful initiatives to standardize information, improve data accessibility and quality, and deliver business value through effective data management
• Must have experience with tasks such as data migration, data replication, user administration, backup and recovery, and understanding of general DBA tasks.
• Good knowledge (indexes, partitions, TDE, tablespaces, compression techniques, constraints, query optimization etc.) on relational databases like Oracle etc.
• Expert understanding in the design, creation, management, and business use of large datasets with strong understanding of statistical methodologies and techniques utilized for analyzing large datasets.
• Experience with various information modeling techniques including entity-relationship modeling, dimensional modeling, Metamodels, and data flow diagrams. Experience in relational (3NF) and dimensional data model design. Experience with any data-modeling tool like TOAD Modeling tool, ERWIN, ERStudio etc.
• Expert knowledge of query languages (SQL/PLSQL) coding and execution with scripting shell or python programming
• Exposure to advanced analytics concepts such as predictive models and / or machine learning
• Understands the principles of data governance, work with data governance team to implement the data governance guidelines.
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of ETL concepts and processes
• Experience in Agile / SCRUM (with sprints) methodologies.

Education: BS in Computer Science, Business or related field or equivalent combination of experience and education
