CGI gets top industry honours from Hummingbird
CGI Group Inc. (NYSE: GIB; TSE: GIB.A) (CGI) today announced that it was
recently presented with two prestigious awards from industry partner Hummingbird
at the Hummingbird Summit 2002 conference in Florida. To recognize CGIs
extensive work in document management solutions, Hummingbird honoured
CGI with its top recognition, the Worldwide Partner
of the Year Award, as well as the Most
Productive Partner for the Enterprise Portal Solutions Award for North
America.
This is a great accomplishment, not only for the Ottawa office,
says Gord Briscoe, Vice-President, Consulting Services at CGIs Ottawa
office, but also for CGI as a global IT services company. We are
very proud to have been recognized by our partners as a worldwide leader
in the industry. The awards establish CGI as a leader in the implementation
document management solutions and an expert in custom solutions for clients
around the world. The decision was based on CGIs ability to strive

According to Elias Diamantopoulos, Vice President & General Manager
Asian-Pacific, Canadian, Latin American Operations, the criteria for the
award is based on a win-win-win philosophy. All three
stakeholders the customer, CGI and Hummingbird gain value through
the partnership, he said. In this case, CGI demonstrated a willingness
and ability to execute a driving value for all three stakeholders through
the Records, Document, Information Management System (RDIMS), a Government
of Canada shared-system initiative.
What is RDIMS?
RDIMS provides the functionality to capture, manage, store, preserve,
protect and retrieve document-based information. Among many benefits,
RDIMS is considered a key part of the infrastructure necessary for the
Canadian government to go on-line, allowing departments to move towards
an electronic-based document management system. RDIMS also shortens the
governments business cycle dramatically and enables departments
to meet information-related obligations in a more efficient manner, dramatically
saving time and resources searching for relevant material. Since CGI won
the contract to implement RDIMS in 1998, over 35,000 seats have been implemented
in 33 Canadian government departments.
