Natural resources

CGI Natural Resources practice has been providing IT-based solutions to the U.S. federal government for more than three decades, successfully assisting clients in direct agency mission support, such as:

• EPA’s Office of Water’s Great Lakes Program Office, for the monitoring of Great Lakes sampling data for scientific research
• EPA’s Office of Research and Development, for the development and implementation of the Environmental Science Connector – a Web portal designed to promote scientific research and collaboration
• EPA’s Office of Pesticide Programs Information Network (OPPIN), for the consolidation of pesticide programs data for the purpose of enabling improved decision-making and information disbursement both within and outside of the program

The practice also provides client value via a hosted environment. Specifically, CGI is responsible for the Department of the Interior’s Trust Asset and Accounting Management System (TAAMS), providing the Bureau of Indian Affairs and tribal officials with nationwide access to Indian trust asset data and to a library of trust asset management tools. The hosted solution is available 24 hours per day, 365 days of the year.

The Natural Resources practice also offerings CIO-related services. These services include consulting and IT support work related to capital planning, enterprise architecture, IT security, compliance with the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA), enterprise product selection and policy setting. Examples of this work are demonstrated in the following programs:

• EPA’s Office of Research & Development’s joint initiative with the Office of Environmental Information for an all-encompassing IT Governance System (ITGSS)
• USDA’s Common Computing Environment, for product testing, acceptance and standardization
