BellSouth

BellSouth recognized early on that a changing regulatory environment, rapidly converging technologies, and industry globalization required a new strategic vision of its operational support systems to meet critical business objectives.

Since beginning our relationship in 1992, CGI has worked with BellSouth to develop that vision and transform BellSouth’s systems to be more flexible, responsive, customer-focused and, most importantly, to deliver business benefits to BellSouth’s Customer Operating Units (COUs).

Initially, CGI was chosen to assist BellSouth with a new billing system to support more than 20 million customers in its nine-state region. Today, the relationship is truly multi-dimensional encompassing both consulting and information technology services. In the consulting area, CGI has provided business process re-engineering and software quality management. In the information technology area, CGI has delivered advanced object technology solutions, systems automation, and data management systems.

The relationship is enterprise-wide as well, crossing lines of business from consumer to large business to, most recently, long distance. It also incorporates the full spectrum of functional areas, including customer care and billing, credit management, procurement, strategic planning, marketing and sales and eBusiness.

Industry analysts confirm that this is one of the largest and most comprehensive billing implementations the world has seen in years. CGI worked with KPN over the full life cycle of this massive project to develop a single customer care and billing system to serve its 7 million residential customers in time for the deregulation of the European telecommunications market. With the new innovative billing solution paving the way for faster time to market, improved customer service and scalability for the future, CGI also provided a web self-care solution to empower customers further.

Telecel Vodafone Partners with CGI to Deliver Convergent Prepaid Solution

Telecel Vodafone S.A. (Telecel Vodafone), Portugal’s leading private operator, has partnered with CGI to build its next-generation convergent prepaid billing solution.

The solution strengthens Telecel Vodafone to aggressively compete and define new standards in Portugal’s rapidly growing prepaid market. It supports Telecel Vodafone’s commitment to deliver superior service to existing customers while attracting new customers, and maintaining its position as prepaid market leader and innovator.

The CGI solution enables Telecel Vodafone to provide integrated billing in a diverse range of prepaid communication services, to reduce time to market for new products and services, and implement more customer-focused pricing structures.
