An Update from the AMS Advantage Steering Committee Chair, Jerry Gearheart, State of Utah An Update from the AMS Advantage Steering Committee Chair, Jerry Gearheart, State of Utah

Steering Committee members serve for a period of three years per term, with the opportunity to serve no more than two terms. Each Committee member has a tremendous opportunity and responsibility to represent each and every person who uses an AMS Advantage® product. Meeting monthly, the Committee reviews all requests to enhance AMS Advantage Financial Management, Procurement, Budgeting, Human Resource Management and AMS infoAdvantage. Based on the complexity of the proposed enhancement, each committee member may spend several hours reviewing and analyzing the request before deciding whether or not to approve its application to baseline. It is so important that the Committee does it's homework on proposed enhancements, and takes an active role in keeping CGI moving in the direction that's best for us, and them.

Steering Committee members do all of this wonderful work, but in reality they cannot function without the support of the AMS Advantage user community. This is especially true this time of year, when the user community, represented by the Site Primary Contact at each AMS Advantage site, is asked to participate in the process to elect Steering Committee members to fill the seats that represent them. If you are the Site Primary Contact, you now have the opportunity to elect representatives for the following seats:

  • Financial Management/Functional
  • Employee Benefits/Functional
  • Materials Management (Asset Management, Inventory Management)
  • Payroll/Functional

CGI has provided details regarding the election and who is running for each seat (complete with their profile). Here’s a link to that information: https://sc.cgi.com/advantage/library/7035 .

Last week, the Steering Committee met with CGI and their dedicated Product Management team in Fairfax, VA to discuss the status of Release 3.9 development and future enhancements to be included with Release 3.10.

Don’t forget to vote!

The Steering Committee wishes each of you a happy and safe holiday season.
