CGI Advantage Mobile: Enabling users to perform their business functions anytime & anywhere

Enterprise mobility is one of the key strategic priorities for the CGI Advantage program. In Release 3.10, significant enhancements have been made to the CGI Advantage architecture to support enterprise mobility. Based on the immediate need and priorities from the user community, the first mobile app selected to be released is the Manager Self Service (MSS) Time and Labor Approvals mobile app for the iPhone and Android devices.

The MSS mobile app provides key features for the line managers to manage their time-sensitive worklist items through their mobile devices anytime and anywhere. Some of the key features of the MSS mobile app are:

• Timesheet Approval – allows managers to approve/reject timesheet documents from their mobile device
• Leave Request Approval – allows managers to approve/reject leave requests from their mobile device
• Overtime Request Approval – allows managers to approve/reject overtime requests from their mobile device

To support enterprise mobility, a mobile framework component has been added to the CGI Advantage architecture to integrate mobile apps with CGI Advantage. The CGI Advantage Mobile Framework provides the following key features:

• Manage communication between the mobile app and CGI Advantage Server to provide a seamless user experience for the end users
• Generate mobile pages for the requesting mobile app to enable end users to interact with CGI Advantage from their mobile phones
• Enable security by leveraging the CGI Advantage Security Framework to only allow authorized CGI Advantage users access and use of the mobile apps
• Monitor and log user access, allowing system administrators to track mobile users and identify unauthorized access

MSS mobile app will be supported in the mobile devices listed below. Support for other platforms will be added in the future based on demand from the user community.

• iPhone: iOS 6.1+; distributed via Apple store
• Android phones: Gingerbread 2.3.4+; distributed via Google Play
• iPad: iOS 6.1+; Safari browser certification to access CGI Advantage
• Note: Android tablets are not supported at this time
