Implementation of the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)

A service for family medicine groups and medical clinics

Medical clinics can leverage the many benefits of implementing an electronic medical record system by partnering with CGI.  CGI helps with all the steps of the implementation to ensure the project is a success for you and your patients.

Benefits of the EMR

  • For doctors: reduction of paper work and the ability to access the entire record remotely
  • For patients: continuity of care and improved security while reducing the risks of medication errors
  • For clinics: financial performance improvements

EMR implementation project success factors

Each medical clinic has a different environment and must take into consideration its special requirements. Regardless of the specific characteristics of each clinic, there are three main common success factors for every EMR implementation. The key factors are to select a system that meets the clinic’s requirements and specialties, a step-by-step implementation programme, and careful project management.

The Quebec electronic medical record adoption program

The ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux (MSSS) launched the Programme québécois d’adoption du dossier médical électronique (PQADME) to foster the adoption and use of electronic medical records by front-line family doctors.
