Integration Engine
Helping clients integrate and disseminate vital business data
As government agencies around the world redefine industry obligations regarding environmental health and safety (EHS), with an emphasis on workplace, consumer and environmental protection, ensuring the consistency and quality of your data has never been so important. The increased emphasis on providing environmental data to demonstrate compliance means that now, more than ever, companies need to share business data internally throughout the supply chain and with regulatory agencies.
CGI’s Integration Engine was originally built specifically to address system integration and data management challenges within the environmental health and safety domain. The .NET application has since been proven to be an effective all-purpose data exchange solution that supports a wide range of data integration scenarios and is fully configurable and adaptable to any number of hardware and software environments.
As a result, CGI experts and the Integration Enginesolution help clients address key governmental mandates organizations need to be concerned with, including:
- European Union’s Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) regulation: Requires electronic submission of hazard and safe use data through the International Uniform Chemical Information Database (IUCLID) and requires communication of registered safe use information throughout the supply chain.
- European Union’s classification, labeling and packaging of substances and mixtures regulation (CLP regulation): Requires electronic notification of classification and labeling information for all hazardous substances regardless of tonnage and for all non-hazardous substances subject to registration under REACH when placed on the market within the European Union.
- US Environmental Protection Agency’s Moderated Transaction System (EMTS): Allows electronic submission of renewable fuels data through the EPA’s Central Data Exchange (CDX).
- US Toxic Substance Control Act’s Electronic Inventory Update Reporting 2011 rule (TSCA eIUR 2011): Requires electronic submission of toxic substance inventory data in 2011 using a web portal or XML data standard through EPA’s CDX.
Often, gathering required data means accessing a variety of systems (ERP, procurement, logistics, production, formulation, hazard communication, etc) and validating the accuracy of the data prior to distributing it. This becomes even more challenging when the same data exists in multiple systems, and inconsistency can result in poor or misleading results and, in some cases, non-compliance.
Integration Engine capabilities
Combining our technology with more than 35 years of experience helping government and industry implement environmental IT solutions, CGI and the Integration Engine deliver:
- Synchronization capabilities to propagate data changes in a source system to one or more destination systems
- An extensible query framework to allow data compilation, analytics and reporting from multiple systems running different database engines (Oracle, SQL Server, etc.)
- Extraction, transformation and load (ETL) capabilities within a service-oriented architecture to compile electronic data submissions quickly and efficiently, including submission through the Environmental Information Exchange Network Network Node Version 2.0.
- Tailored screens and data exchange capabilities specifically designed to facilitate data exchange with IUCLID for REACH compliance
With the Integration Engine, CGI quickly designs and implements custom data integration solutions focused on improving the consistency and quality of your data, enabling you to provide a timely and accurate response to data requests from your customers or the public, and reducing your data collection and compliance costs.
