CGI professionals in UK donate from their pay to support a wide range of charities
In 1987, the UK government set up Payroll Giving—a program that allows employees to donate a certain amount of their pre-tax pay each month to charity. Employees are not only able to choose how much to give but also which charities they want to support.
The program has been a huge success, raising more than £114,000,000 in the past year alone from the participation of 720,000 employees and providing a steady stream of income for a wide range of charities.
CGI has been a supporter of Payroll Giving since 2006, and today, 70 percent of our professionals in the UK participate in the program, supporting 232 charities.
In 2011, CGI’s high employee participation rate earned it a Payroll Giving Quality Mark Gold Award. We also received the award in 2008 and will be aiming to achieve it again in 2012.
“The award is a symbol of excellence in the UK and reflects CGI’s culture of giving,” said David Ivie, director of human resources. “We’re honored to receive it and proud of the generosity of our professionals. It’s one way that we, as a community of people, can make a difference.”
