CGI’s Rotterdam office in the Netherlands hosts an annual Daughters Day, where CGI members are invited to bring their daughters, age 7 to 18 years, to work with them for the day. This year, 56 participants were split into different groups based on their age and given the opportunity to peek behind the scenes at CGI by touring our Spark Innovation Center and participating in engaging workshops focused on topics in the technology field, such as drones and robotics.

Located on the first floor of CGI’s Rotterdam office, the Spark Innovation Center showcases CGI’s innovations, solutions portfolio and expertise for clients and other visitors. It also is used for special events such as client meetings, presentations, workshops, discussions, brainstorming sessions and classes.

Feedback received from participants and their parents was overwhelmingly positive, with one attendee sharing that “[Daughters Day] is better than the ICT program at my school!” The day served to inspire young girls to take an interest in learning more about technology and emphasized that careers in IT are accessible to anyone.

With nearly 3,000 employees across six offices, CGI’s Netherlands operations focus on delivering high-end consulting and outsourcing services, particularly in the areas of mission-critical and online systems, mobile and connected business, customer experience application environments, environmental and security systems and business intelligence.

CGI teams in the Netherlands also operate the world’s largest robot—the Maeslant barrier—which protects the country from flooding using an intelligent decision and support system.
