Fairfax, Virginia, February 23, 2011

Health 2.0 has selected CGI Federal Inc. (CGI), a wholly-owned U.S. operating subsidiary of CGI Group Inc. (NYSE: GIB; TSX: GIB.A), as the 2010 winner of its Challenge for Consumer Apps to Visualize Health Care Quality Measures. The challenge, supported by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, was designed to spur innovation in creating easy-to-use applications to help Americans make decisions about their healthcare.

Selected from a broad set of industry submissions, CGI created a web- and mobile-based hospital “compare” application (app) as part of an overall Healthcare Quality system. The hospital compare app allows consumers to personalize their searches of the government’s data and then evaluate hospitals based on the quality measures important to them. Consumers can filter search results by ratings or directly compare several facilities. The mobile app also includes a feature showing emergency room wait times, contact information, and driving directions.

"The need for innovation in health IT has never been greater—for patients, physicians, hospitals, and insurers—to help all Americans make better, more informed choices,” said Cheryl Campbell, Senior Vice-President, CGI. Innovation must occur faster and with more agility—something for which technology companies—like CGI—are famous. We are proud that our work on this challenge has been recognized by Health 2.0, an organization founded on the idea that patients can use new tools to guide their own care.”

“Our team focused on bringing data 'to life' through easy-to-read, useful results for today’s healthcare consumer,” said Rich Martin, Vice-President, CGI. “The app utilizes readily available data—which are critical for showcasing the power of IT for improving the health care experience for every American.”

The CGI team will donate the $2,500 cash prize to the American Heart Association (AHA). CGI is in its second year as an AHA Healing Heart Society Champion, which includes a special campaign to recognize military “heart hero” physicians for their service.

CGI will present its solution at the Health 2.0 Conference from March 21–22, 2011 in San Diego, Calif.
