CGI MOBILE WORKFORCE MANAGEMENT SOLUTION DEPLOYED IN RECORD TIME AT HYDRO OTTAWA FOR THE SMART METER PROJECT

Ottawa, Ontario, November 1, 2006 -

CGI Group Inc. (CGI) (TSX: GIB.A; NYSE: GIB), a leading provider of utility solutions and services, and Hydro Ottawa went into full production with CGI’s Mobile Workforce Management System (MWMS) including CGI’s reengineered mobile application for handheld computers called PragmaFLEET. This project was delivered in a record four months time with exemplary collaboration from Hydro Ottawa’s team.

The Government of Ontario’s goal is to create a lasting “conservation culture” across the province and become a leader in energy efficiency. As a result, the province intends to have 800,000 Smart Meters installed in homes and small businesses by the end of 2007, and the entire province converted by 2010. More than a year ago, Hydro Ottawa initiated their Smart Metering Pilot project to facilitate the provincial government’s request. In order to execute the task of replacing all its meters within a short period of time, Hydro Ottawa, in April 2006, selected CGI PragmaCAD and PragmaFLEET as the Mobile Workforce Management System (MWFMS) of choice for their Metering Team.

The project called for building a sophisticated two-way interface with the Customer Information System (CIS), which allows all field transactions to be completed using an automated process. In addition to the benefits of greater communication in the field, CGI’s MWFMS also enables Hydro Ottawa’s team of Meter Technicians to capture all relevant meter data and provide real-time progress reporting, completely eliminating time-consuming “paperwork.”

“CGI managed to deliver its wireless solution within a very aggressive timeline. Their solution allowed us to launch our broad Smart Meter deployment using a third party service provider according to our project timeline. Our broader goals as a utility of delivering an efficient deployment could not have been attained without the implementation of such a productivity tool,” said Owen Mahaffy, Program Manager, Metering Systems.

CGI is proud to have implemented its first PragmaFLEET application within the utility industry. Several additions to the base MWFMS infrastructure are in and the high configurability of the products chosen will enable Hydro Ottawa to potentially leverage its investment in other business areas. Hydro Ottawa becomes a new member of CGI’s User community and both companies look forward to a long and fruitful partnership.

“The Hydro Ottawa team was well prepared and contributed in making this implementation a reference site with regards to the use of portable technologies. We are looking forward to further develop our partnership with Hydro Ottawa and hope to deliver additional benefits to other areas within their utility,” says Richard Gobeil, Director of Consulting Services and Engagement Sponsor for CGI.
