Toronto, Ontario, April 8, 2008

CGI Group Inc. (TSX: GIB.A; NYSE: GIB), a leader in information technology and
business process services and a leading provider of solutions to the insurance
industry, today announced the launch of its Insurance Validation Service (IVS).
This service helps both government agencies and policing organizations in Canada
identify vehicles that do not have insurance.

Incidents involving
uninsured drivers result in the consumer paying higher insurance premiums and
registration fees. As well, the health care system bears the costs incurred by
individuals involved in an accident where no insurance coverage exists.

“The general public needs to be better protected when it comes to
individuals who drive with no insurance coverage,” said Randy Carroll, Chief
Executive Officer for the Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario (IBAO).

IBAO has been involved in this project since its beginning and
approached CGI to lend its expertise.

“IBAO is pleased to see CGI take
the lead in developing a service which will arm the police and government
licensing agencies with the best available information. IVS will empower
authorities to act decisively and make informed decisions—which is in the best
interest of all Ontario drivers,” said Carroll.

The solution was refined
after a number of pilot projects in Ontario and Atlantic Canada in 2007. These
field trials included an evaluation conducted by RCMP National Traffic Service.

“This initiative is a great example of what can be accomplished when all
stakeholders focus on addressing the issue” said Wayne Beck, Vice-President,
Consulting Services at CGI. “Now that we have shown that the solution helps
address this serious concern, we look forward to working with all parties to
make this service available coast-to-coast.”

With more than 4,300
professionals dedicated to the global insurance industry, CGI has deep insurance
experience in both the Property and Casualty and Life industries. CGI has more
than $300 million invested in insurance business and technology solutions which
are used by more than 300 carriers. CGI clients include 75 of the top 100
insurance carriers. The company also provides managed services to leading
clients including Manulife, Equity Insurance Group and Kanawha.
