Gov. Bob McDonnell applauds new mobile e-procurement app developed by CGI for the Commonwealth of Virginia
New mobile app increases access to government procurement opportunities
Gov. Bob McDonnell, joined by Mark Boyajian, Senior Vice-President of CGI, announced today the launch of eVA Mobile 4 Business, a mobile application for Virginia’s electronic procurement system (eVA). CGI experts behind eVA, one of the largest state e-procurement systems in the nation, created the new app in collaboration with the Commonwealth’s team for Internet-enabled mobile devices to make it easier to track business opportunities with government entities in Virginia.
CGI Group Inc. (NYSE: GIB) (TSX: GIB.A), a leading provider of information technology and business process services, worked with the Department of General Services Division of Purchases and Supply (DGS) to develop the app which includes one-touch access to solicitation details, integrated calendars, personalized watch lists and advanced search features. eVA Mobile 4 Business gives bid professionals greater access and transparency to track state procurements – putting government at their fingertips.
"Success in business today requires real-time, mobile access to business opportunities," said Governor McDonnell. "The eVA Mobile 4 Business app turns every smart phone into a portal to Virginia's cutting edge e-procurement system. This app increases access and transparency for businesses and individuals, and by expanding the pool of potential bidders, will save taxpayer dollars. This first-of-its-kind mobile application will unleash the power of the private sector to deliver better, more cost-effective services to the citizens of Virginia."
Along with eVA, which saves the Commonwealth more than $30 million annually through greater competition and efficiency, the new mobile app demonstrates CGI’s ability to use innovative technology to turn client vision into reality. Consistent with Forbes.com listing of Virginia and the eVA program as one of the top 10 state/local governments utilizing software as a service in the cloud, the eVA Mobile 4 Business app will increase participation by suppliers of all sizes, including small, women and minority-owned businesses.
“Virginia has a long-standing record as the leading state for business, and CGI is extremely proud to do business here and call it our U.S. home,” said Mark Boyajian, Senior Vice-President, CGI. “This innovative mobile procurement application, developed by CGI, makes it easier for thousands of small businesses to participate in the procurement process with the Commonwealth, simply by using their mobile device.”
The eVA Mobile 4 Business app can be found in the Apple and Android app stores. For more information about eVA and these new tools go to www.dgs.virginia.gov.
