Correcting paychecks can be extremely time consuming and a drain on a payroll department’s resources. One way to mitigate incorrect calculations, especially following changes to pay and deduction reference tables, is to utilize the Preliminary Gross-to-Net payroll cycle option. Preliminary payroll provides the ability to run the payroll process to determine how reference table changes impact paycheck results for a group of employees without waiting for the Regular Gross-to-Net payroll process to run. This payroll cycle option provides flexibility as an organization can choose to clear the results once the calculation has completed—without having to do a restore. This session highlights the end-to-end process of running a preliminary payroll, describes all steps in the process and defines how to implement the System Process table to support the payroll cycle.
