CGI Federal Inc. (CGI), a wholly-owned U.S. operating subsidiary of CGI Group Inc. (NYSE: GIB) (TSX: GIB.A), announced today that its Health and Compliance Programs Business Unit (BU) has achieved the Software Engineering Institute’s (SEI) Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Development Maturity Level 5, the highest rating possible.

CGI Federal is the 10th company in the United States to receive the Level 5 rating for CMMI Development, version 1.3, which notes the BU’s success in establishing a culture based on continuous improvement of robust, standardized, and well-defined software development processes. Level 5 is the highest level an organization can attain in the CMMI framework. The appraisal, performed by A1 Independent Consulting, rated the BU as performing at an “optimizing” level.

"CGI has always performed at a very high level, with a strong commitment to doing things right and for the right reasons,” said Norm Hammock, SEI Certified High Maturity Lead Appraiser, A1 Independent Consulting. “Having led many appraisals at Maturity Level 5 at some of the top companies in the world, I would place the Health & Compliance BU at the very top of organizations for productivity and quality. They demonstrated this with very strong statistics and quantitative methods as required in a Maturity Level 5 appraisal."

“For government clients who need reliable solutions that deliver the value promised, attention to quality and process improvement is key,” said Donna Ryan, President, CGI Federal. “CGI’s commitment to quality is a hallmark of our client delivery approach, so I am proud of our Health and Compliance BU for reaching Level 5 in pursuit of excellence for our clients.”

“CMMI Level 5 is the gold standard, so this is a tremendous achievement for the organization,” said Cheryl Campbell, Senior Vice-President for Health and Compliance Programs BU at CGI. “In the fast-evolving healthcare market, our clients face complex challenges to fulfill their strategic goals under tight budgets. Through the statistical control and discipline of CMMI Level 5, our teams have greater predictive insight into outcomes, schedule, cost and quality. This creates more time to innovate and provide our clients with well-managed delivery services that can more readily adapt to their evolving technology needs while containing their costs.”
