Juana Colon RHIA
HIM Director for Orlando Regional
Juana Colon RHIA has 30 years experience in healthcare, managing and leading the areas of outpatient records while she resides in New York.

Having relocated in 1988, she began her employment at Orlando Regional Healthcare in May 1989, and has progressively been promoted to her current position. During her tenure she has held various positions from Supervisor of Record Completion, Assistant Manager of Medical Transcription, Manager of Orlando Regional Medical Center HIM and in 1995 was promoted to Corporate Director. Juana helped facilitate the transition to a paperless environment at Orlando Regional Healthcare in 1997.

An early adopter of electronic health records that dates back to 1998, Ms. Colon has led the charge that has taken Orlando Regional from a paper-based record system, to a hybrid and now a true electronic health record and virtual HIM department.

Utilizing electronic legal health records and workflow, Orlando Regional's HIM analysts can now audit files for completeness, coders can complete their work, and physicians and clinicians can make better decisions faster by accessing patient information remotely.
